Technical Program
The IMS Technical Program takes from Sunday until Friday of Microwave Week. The IMS Technical Program consists of the core Technical Sessions as well as the Plenary Session, Workshops, Short Courses, Panel Sessions, and a Rump Session.

The IMS Technical Sessions consist of 78 individual sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These 78 sessions are composed of 449 papers from 847 submitted. In these sessions, authors from the world's academic, corporate and government microwave and RF R&D community will present original research covering the latest developments in all areas of interest to the RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave community. The Technical Sessions are grouped together in several color-coded tracks or themes, ranging from theory to applications: Microwave Field and Circuit Theory, Passive Components, Active Components, Systems and Applications, and Emerging Technical Areas. These sessions include eight Focus Sessions and five Special Sessions. Focus Sessions discuss timely topics that are setting today's technological pace. Special Sessions cover topics of geographical and historical interest to the community. On Tuesday at midday, the best of the world's student papers will be featured in a Student Paper Competition Interactive Forum session, drawn from the array of student-authored papers accepted in the regular program. On Wednesday and Thursday at midday, the Interactive Forum will take place, showcasing technical papers best presented in an interactive format, allowing for up-close, in-depth, and personal communication between author and audience. Each day of IMS2011 there will be something for everyone's interest!

Flanking the the Technical Sessions in midweek, the IMS Workshops are scheduled for Sunday, Monday, and Friday. In these 33 Workshops spanning 3 days, the world's microwave experts have gathered together to lecture on contemporary microwave and RF topics, with an opportunity for the audience to join in the open discussion and debate. This is, without question, the best Microwave School on the planet! As as part of that school, we are offering several Short Courses on Sunday and Monday, some as tutorials, and some with with hands-on laboratory activity.

At noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday there will be stimulating Panel Sessions wherein experts in the field will engage in some lively give and take on timely topics which will are sure to attract your attention. In addition, there will be a Rump Session on Tuesday evening which will look into "Microwave R&D Funding Policy & Trends".
